About Us
Susie Berman & Patrick Corrigan
I have always had a passion for big
dogs. Prior to my Mastiffs, I owned a St. Bernard, "Otis", and a
Newfoundland, "Dudley". After losing them, I waited 12 years to
get another dog.
The first time I saw a mastiff, it was on
the David Letterman show. The dog was very large and had a 38"
collar. I was impressed with his size, strength and his noble
attitude. I fell in love with the breed and I knew that would be my next
dog!
Patrick and I were now a couple and the
time was right for getting our first mastiff. We bought Fergie , a brindle
mastiff in May, 1997. She was such a beautiful , special dog, and she
touched the lives of everyone who knew her. We loved her so much, we
wanted her to have a companion. We bought Big Ben, a fawn, in September
1999 as a pet. Our vet, Dr. Steven Cairo, was so impressed with Ben,
he suggested we show him.
Ben won Best of Breed at his first
show over specials and we were hooked. He finished his championship in 5 months
with multiple Best of Breed wins.
We decided to get a show mastiff and Visa
came into our lives. We thank Karen & Chris Pettry, Kharisma's
Mastiffs, for allowing us to have this beautiful girl. We have met many
wonderful people who have shared their knowledge and support in all aspects of
owning and showing these"Gentle Giants".
On June 24, 2004, we lost Fergie to
cancer.
She has changed the course of our lives, and will hold the most special
place in our hearts forever. We will never forget her.
We complete extensive health testing on
our mastiffs and are happy to announce that we are expecting our first litter on
July 21, 2004. These puppies are sired by our Ch. Big Ben out of our
Visa. We hope to have many show potential puppies as well as pups
for those loving pet homes. Please watch the website for puppy updates and
pictures!
We are very excited to begin this new
phase of our Mastiff journey and look forward to many years with this wonderful
breed.
